Placed at an altitude of 720m and 12km from Bento Gonçalves, in the direction of Pinto Bandeira district, the eno-gastronomic complex Don Giovanni has got a respectable tradition in the elaboration of its wines, referring to the techniques that were brought by the first Italian and German immigrants that came to the region of the Southern Mountain Range. Nowadays, in the fourth generation producing wine, it has united the inherited enological techniques to a complete process of modernization of all the technology employed by the winery. The result of the fusion between tradition and modernization has created high quality wines, a reference for the best productions in Rio Grande do Sul. It belonged to several different owners, and is presently owned by the couple Ayrton and Beatriz Dreher Giovannini, who have acquired it from the company Dreher Inc., which used to keep it for its experimental vineyards and for the elaboration of particular wines. It was also the place where the first vineyards with Cabernet Franc scions imported from Chile were planted.
In the property there is an old house, built in the mid-1930s, which was changed into a hotel in 1997. That was the origin of Don Giovanni Inn, an outstanding example of hospitality, originality and distinguished gastronomy.
Nowadays, the company owns 55 hectares, 18 of which with vineyards of the varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Tannat, Ancelota, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay. There is also a vineyard with the variety Isabel, which is used for the elaboration of juice and wine for distillation.
We elaborate excellent wines of these varieties, and also a Brandy, 100% produced with distillated wine, and 12 years aged in oak barrels.
The company has excelled in several national and international contests, as well as in pleasing its customer’s taste, which has more and more been requesting Don Giovanni’s wines and sparkling wines for their peculiar and strong features.
