The project is established at Fazenda Ouro Verde, in the municipality of Casa Nova, Bahia, in the macro-region of northeastern Brazil, within the inter-tropical zone.
The lower-middle São Francisco valley is one of the new Brazilian vitiviniculture areas producing fine wines. It is located at altitudes of around 350 meters in the typical scrubland of the northeastern savannah. The vines are grown on flat areas

The vineyards are located between longitude 9º and 10º south – one of the world’s lowest latitudes for viticulture. The aim of the project is to reach 400 hectares of vines by the year 2012. A drip irrigation system similar to what is used in other regions of the world is installed throughout the vineyard due to the semi-arid tropical climate with high sunshine levels and low rainfall.

Fazenda Ouro Verde already had a winery established over 20 years ago, which was fully remodeled and expanded to meet the current demand. The current capacity of
1.5 million liters a year is expected to reach four million liters by the year 2012.

The wines the company develops are associated with the region of Vale do São Francisco, its islands, gastronomy, and exotic fruits. The local folklore, the sun, the warm climate, and the attractions of the Brazilian northeast are translated into the typical products of the region
