PIZZATO Vinhas e Vinhos is the legacy of a 131 year-old grape growing and wine making tradition in Brazil. Located at the Valedos Vinhedos, Bento Gonçalves, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil, PIZZATO is owned by the Plínio Pizzato family. Plínio Pizzato is the grandson of Antonio Pizzato, an Italian immigrant who came to Bento Gonçalves in 1875 from the Veneto region of Italy and brought with him the proud winemaking tradition.
With solid experience in the production of grapes, the family founded the PIZZATO Vinhas e Vinhos in 1999 with the objective of making world class locally grown and bottled wines from their own vineyards.
The family owns 104 acres of prime vineyards located in two regions, both within the so-called Serra Gaúcha region:
• Vale dos Vinhedos, Bento Gonçalves, with origin indication (IGT) “Viticultural Area”
• Doutor Fausto, Dois Lajeados
The family uses both traditional principals and modern day technology is its efforts to make world class wines.The wines from both areas, Vale dos Vinhedos and Doutor Fausto, are 100% made by Pizzato family oenologists.
